Model of a primitive ichthyosaur from the Triassic, potentially the largest marine reptile known in the fossil record. The Shastasaurus model has been given a striking black and white color scheme reminiscent of the orca. These markings would have helped this giant hunter hide from its prey, the color pattern making Shastasaurus less visible from above and below.
